Welcome to Wednesday, December 4th, fractions and wholes...

The House intel committee has sent their report on Trump and Ukraine to the judiciary.

In a closed-door meeting Tuesday, the House Intelligence Committee voted 13-9 along party-lines to approve a report with findings from its impeachment inquiry of President Donald Trumpand to refer it to the Judiciary Committee.

The move comes one day after committee Republicans released their 110-page prebuttal report which found the president committed “no quid pro quo, bribery, extortion, or abuse of power."

Some key quotes from the Democrats' report:

  • “The President conditioned a White House meeting and military aid on a public announcement of investigations beneficial to his reelection campaign.”
  • “The President obstructed the impeachment inquiry by instructing witnesses and agencies to ignore subpoenas for documents and testimony.”
  • “President Trump publicly attacked and intimidated witnesses who came forward to comply with duly authorized subpoenas and testify about his misconduct, raising grave concerns about potential violations of criminal laws intended to protect witnesses appearing before Congressional proceedings.”

Once the Judiciary Committee has held its last information-gathering impeachment hearing, it will likely hold a markup session in which it would draft and approve articles of impeachment (or perhaps a censure resolution) for consideration on the House floor. Among the potential articles of impeachment that reportedly under consideration by the majority Democrats: bribery, abuse of power, contempt of Congress, and obstruction of justice.

Court: Trump Must Hand Over Financial Records to Congress

Deutsche Bank, President Trump's longtime lender, must turn over his financial records to Congress, an appeals court ruled.

House committees' "interest in pursuing their constitutional legislative function is a far more significant public interest than whatever public interest inheres in avoiding the risk of a Chief Executive's distraction arising from disclosure of documents reflecting his private financial transactions," the court said in a 108-page ruling.

Jay Sekulow, Trump's attorney, said the next step will be an appeal to the Supreme Court.

"We believe the subpoena is invalid as issued. In light of the Second Circuit decision, we are evaluating our next options including seeking review at the Supreme Court of the United States," Sekulow said in a statement.
