John,
The extreme right wing spent 50 years pushing to end abortion rights. They may think the fight is now over. We know it’s not.
Hope is an act of defiance, so we’re turning our rage into action.
We wanted to take a moment to share with you WFP’s strategy to defend abortion rights in this moment. But before we get into the details:
Can you make a $3 donation to fund our efforts to elect dozens of pro-choice candidates for state, local, and federal office nationwide? With a big end-of-quarter deadline this week, we could use your financial support to hit our goal so we can add power to these campaigns.

In the 72 hours since the Supreme Court acted to overturn Roe v. Wade, WFP members have been out in force in the streets. We heard from so many of you organizing and attending actions throughout the weekend nationwide — you even made the front page of the New York Times! — and we were so inspired by your energy and determination.
But while we need to keep showing up in the streets and pushing to hold this illegitimate Supreme Court majority accountable on all fronts, we also need to take our power back in elections, many of which are going on right now. So here’s our plan:
First, we are a political party, and our power lies in elections — and specifically, in Democratic primaries. But we won’t ever tell you to “just vote” for Democrats in November when some of those same Democrats have consistently failed to protect our families and communities. Electing Democrats has clearly not been enough.
We’re organizing to elect Working Families Party champions to Congress, candidates who have the courage to fight for our bodily autonomy. And dozens still have primaries coming up as soon as this week – including people running against right-wing incumbent Democrats who have sided with Republicans to take our abortion rights away.
Then, we head to the general election. Our members, volunteers and activists across the country are fighting to create a Working Families Majority in Congress — that means electing enough candidates in the Senate to end the filibuster, and that means winning key races in places like Wisconsin and Pennsylvania.
But it also comes down to the state level. In blue states, where we can protect people, we’re organizing to make Democrats pass affirmative defenses of abortion rights in state legislatures.
And in the purple states and districts, we need to make Republicans answer for the Supreme Court’s actions, and mobilize voters — especially women, young voters, people of color and progressives.
And finally, after we win these electoral fights, we’ll need legislation to guarantee abortion rights federally. But we’ll also need people in office with the bravery to take on the right wing judiciary and reform the courts.
That’s the plan, but it depends on all of us. Elections are just one of the ways we are fighting back against this attack on our rights. We're also taking collective action — from protests to acts of civil disobedience to raising money for abortion funds to pressuring our elected leaders to take bold action.
Our end-of-quarter deadline this week is a big moment for us to flex the strength of this movement. The extreme right wing that overturned Roe wants to see us demoralized. They want to see our progressive activism slow down.
Make a $3 donation before our deadline to show them this fight is not over. Every dollar will help us fund the organizing, advertising, and electoral work to elect pro-choice champions up and down the ballot.
