John,

The extinction of salmon is an existential threat to Native Nations, fishers, business owners, and communities throughout the Northwest and would cause more far-reaching ecological devastation, like the Southern Resident orca in the Puget Sound that depend on the Columbia River Basin's spring Chinook runs.

Senator Murray and Governor Inslee released a draft 'Lower Snake River Dams Benefit Replacement' Report [[link removed]] for their salmon recovery plan, making it clear that the dams' services - energy, irrigation, and barge transportation - can be fully, feasibly, and affordably replaced with reliable, efficient alternatives. They are now seeking public comment from Washingtonians until July 11 as they finalize their decision on a solution and need to hear from you.

Take Action Now: Submit a comment thanking Senator Murray and Governor Inslee for their leadership and tell them to deliver an actionable plan by July 2022. [[link removed]]

These dams have driven salmon towards extinction for decades, violating the rights of tribes and Indigenous people in the Northwest who were promised abundant salmon by the United States through treaties and other binding commitments. The loss of salmon is an injustice; the removal of these dams is the only way to make it right.

This is a historic opportunity to lead the largest salmon recovery in history, while upholding the rights of tribes and boosting economies. We can do it by removing the four dams on the lower Snake River and replacing the services they provide. The time is now.
