We’re calling for investments in two budget items that will benefit communities across the state.
Funding Growing Greener III: Growing Greener is a longtime successful program that has helped to slash the backlog of farmland-preservation projects statewide; protect open space; eliminate the maintenance backlog in state parks; clean up abandoned mines and restore watersheds; provide funds for recreational trails and local parks; help communities address land use; and provide new and upgraded water and sewer systems. But without enough funding to meet all the challenges facing our communities, we need to keep up investment for years to come with a Growing Greener III program.
Investing in our state agencies that enforce environmental rules and maintain our parks: The budgets of the departments of Environmental Protection and Conservation and Natural Resources have been slashed in recent years and both agencies have had to drastically downsize. DEP and DCNR cannot do their jobs of cleaning up our water, maintaining our 121 parks and forests, and addressing environmental injustices throughout the Commonwealth without full funding.
Now’s the time to help as budget negotiations get underway.
Urge your lawmakers to include funding for Growing Greener, DEP, and DCNR in the state budget >>
Your voice can ensure Pennsylvania’s environment is protected in the face of the climate crisis.
Thanks for all that you do.
