Dear John,

As you may just be learning, the Supreme Court has officially handed down its decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, and has overturned the base protections for legal abortion in Roe v. Wade.

This pernicious decision was not unexpected, but that does not make it any less appalling.

Without the floor-level protection for legal abortion in place, many states will move to ban abortion care altogether, even as some states continue to protect and expand access to abortion.

This decision is devastating. It will upend the lives and jeopardize the health and well-being of millions of people across this country. And while this burden will cross every race, class, and zip code, we know that it will fall the hardest on Black, Indigenous, Latinx, and other communities of color; those working to make ends meet; young people; and people living in rural communities.

But make no mistake: this fight is far from over. JOIN US FOR A CALL on Tuesday, June 28 at 12pm ET [[link removed]] to hear from Andrea Miller, president of NIRH and our Action Fund, to hear what happens next.

NIRH and NIRH Action Fund have been hard at work over the last few years protecting and expanding access to abortion in states and cities across the country, from Colorado to Massachusetts, New Mexico to Oregon, and Illinois to Virginia. NIRH and the NIRH Action Fund will never stop fighting in states and localities nationwide to pass laws to safeguard reproductive rights and justice and to secure public resources to make abortion available and affordable to all who need it.

You can help us continue this critical work [[link removed]] as it becomes ever more necessary in the wake of this decision.

The path forward is a long one, and we will fight like hell for a future in which everyone has the right and the ability to make decisions about their reproductive lives.

Sign up to join our call here. [[link removed]]
