Husbands are supposed to be proud of their wives. It comes with the territory, especially if you want to stay married. In my case, of course I am proud of her, but the point of this short note is to tell you in simple terms why you should financially support her campaign and vote for her.
The County Assessor does not raise the tax rate on your home. Period.
What Ms. Bry will do is bring technology and leadership to an organization run by the good old boys who are beholden to the special interests. It is that simple.
You know that Barbara was on the City Council and won, ran for Mayor and lost, and frankly I was making plans for the sunset. However, she was asked to run to bring integrity and accountability to a dispirited organization that was still using yellow pads, pencils and an abacus.
The County Assessor office matters because your tax money goes to fund our schools and other key public programs. Why should your neighbor not pay his/her/their fair share?
The former chief technology official in the Assessor’s office recently plead guilty to funneling contracts to his wife. Her opponent works for the current Assessor and is part of the problem.
I am not one to mince words. Sure, I am proud of her, but that is not the issue. Leadership and courage are the keys that matter now.
I hope you can support Barbara for this position and contribute to her campaign now before her important June 30 deadline.
