Yesterday’s general election kickoff was a great event – thank you so much for helping make it a huge success! 60 people joined us for comments by 5 leaders I have had the honor of working with on inclusive economic growth, housing, hunger, education, and climate change. I’m fired up and ready to go for this re-election campaign.
Bethany Sutton spoke yesterday at the re-election kickoff about the work we will do on hunger.
The re-election kickoff was truly an honor. I would very much like to enjoy and savor this moment, and we will. We have video of the 5 grassroots leaders who spoke and we will share it over the coming weeks and months.
But the work must continue. Brooke and I are outraged and deeply saddened by the Supreme Court’s decisions on guns and choice last week. We are also motivated. We are responding to these horrible decisions by hosting an event for Congresswoman Abigail Spanbeger at our home on July 13th. Abigail Spanberger is in a highly contested race to help Democrats hold the House of Representatives. She is in Virginia’s 7th Congressional District, a district that includes much of Prince William County. Helping her win is the most direct way I know to fight back against the Supreme Court’s decision reversing Roe v. Wade. We must support Democrats who will enact federal legislation to protect women’s reproductive health care.
I am very aware of how much we have asked of you over the past few months. I am tired, too. But I know we must meet this moment. We must act to help secure the basic and fundamental right that women must have to make health care decisions with their doctors. Will you help?

Because of you I am working today on behalf of our shared ideas, including women’s health care and common sense gun safety, with hope that you will help, as you always have. The stakes are as high as they have ever been.
