The fight for abortion rights has shown why parties like the Democrats do not fight for our liberation, despite fundraising and promising for decades. Democrats like Washington's Congressional Rep. Adam Smith never planned to deliver, in his 24 years in office, legislation that could've prevented the Supreme Court ruling. They have had majorities multiple times over the decades since Roe vs. Wade and have slow-walked to failure because it was politically convenient to fundraise while expending zero political power to achieve it.
That's one of many reasons DSA members endorsed Stephanie Gallardo, a union organizer, school teacher, fighting for an end to war, poverty, and also fighting for total reproductive freedom: abortion, publicly financed alongside health, dental, and vision coverage in Medicare for All legislation, as well as policies like universal daycare to support working people. She has more support than any challenger to Adam Smith because her policies and connection to our district's people mean she's the real deal to take on inaction.
Commit to one of many actions this week to support Stephanie Gallardo for Congress below and, if you're super committed, Electoral Working Group wants to develop the shared resources to help independent campaigns succeed and be meaningfully supported against our incumbent political class. It's time we take our future into our own hands.
