Hi JOHN ,
The Supreme Court reversed Roe v. Wade in an unprecedented move last week, allowing individual states to determine the legality of abortion. This consequential decision will devalue the worth of all women by denying them autonomy over their own bodies. Like most Americans, there has been a range of emotions, ranging from confusion, grief, and anger, to name a few. I'm personally appalled at this decision, which will disproportionally affect low-income and minority Americans. These laws are bad for anyone who values freedom, democracy, the constitution, civil rights, bodily autonomy, equal access to health care, and the right to privacy. Women's rights are human rights.
What happens next in Florida? I'm sure eventually, Governor DeSantis will try to outlaw abortion rights. But currently, after the 1st of July, a new law will go into effect prohibiting abortions after 15 weeks.
As the crisis unfolds, we must push forward, continue to fight, and make our voices heard at the ballot box in November.
We can unseat the incumbent who is in favor of banning abortion, against same-sex marriage and access to contraception, but we need your help.
Now that we are on the ballot and the district map is official, we need volunteers in Pasco, Hernando, and Citrus counties. Click here to sign up to volunteer.
You can also donate to the campaign that will help get the word out to the counties. Click Here To Donate
