Wade decision. One thing we do need to clear up is that the decision did not take away a Constitutional right, nor prevent abortion, it basically took the abortion issue out of the hands of the Federal Government and gave it back to the States. The Democrats would like you to believe that this is the end of Democracy! (Again, for the third time, or maybe the fourth)? While Democrats are upset that people cannot kill unborn children on demand, they are fine with sexualizing children with drag queen shows, LGBTQ+ grooming of grade school children, transgender surgeries, and puberty blockers. Heck, you can’t even give your kids ibuprofen in school without a doctor’s note. The commonsense person thought they had the right to choose how they took care of their body, until Covid came along, then you had no rights on your body: you had to take a vaccine. And why is it now that Democrats know what a woman is? The difference is really quite simple, an average person is concerned with living a life, not promoting a social agenda. Normalcy would be paying attention to inflation, gas prices, the upcoming recession, border control, etc. However, we are in for another round of rioting and turmoil because the Left is not getting their way. We need to stay civil and support our local law enforcement. As Ronald Reagan said, once we lose freedom here there is no other place to go. Let’s keep up the good fight, we are winning! Jay ***WARNING*** This warning about your voter registration information is the result of a request by a REC member who had a recent experience and asked that all REC members and Republicans in Indian River County be informed about it in the newsletter. The REC recently checked voter information on every member to ascertain new precinct numbers and discovered that one person had had their voter record changed to indicate that they lived in Miami-Dade County. When contacted about the change, the member was flabbergasted and immediately contacted the IRC Supervisor of Elections to have it corrected. Please be sure to check your new voter registration card from the Supervisor of Elections to ensure your information is correct. If you find any discrepancy, contact the Supervisor of Elections office immediately. It is clear that vote fraudsters have moved into hacking the identity of the living as well as the dead even in our little county. NEW PRECINCT AND POLLING PLACE INFORMATION FOR INDIAN RIVER COUNTY Indian River County Supervisor of Elections, Leslie Swan has completed redistricting efforts and new precinct boundary lines have been established in Indian River County. All voters will receive a new voter information card indicating their new precinct number and polling location. Look for it in the mail in the next week as it is essential to your voting in the upcoming primary and general elections. You can also go to the SOE website voteindianriver.gov to find your new polling place and precinct number. There is now an Interactive Map where you can see precinct numbers and areas within each precinct. THE 2022 ELECTION IS VERY IMPORTANT Please share the information below with everyone you know. ELEPHANT EARS by Jeff Mosesso June 25-26, 2022, Vero Beach Gun Show REC, Florida Victory, and 2nd Amendment Defense Tables Our active Volunteers for REC were obtaining voter registrations and passing out REC, Clubs, and voter information handouts. Campaign information items on the table and yard signs sitting nearby were taken by attendees for our endorsed School Board candidates Jacqueline Rosario and Thomas Kenny. Florida Victory was actively selling DeSantis 2022 merchandise and passing out DeSantis signs to those requesting them. 2A table volunteers were obtaining signatures on a petition to get Constitutional Carry for Florida heard in 2023 and passing out information flyers for Joann Binford for County Commissioner, District 4 and for James Shaw for Commissioner of Agriculture for the Primaries. Beginning to see interest in candidates for elected office starting to rise so let’s gear up to meet the information demand and for Victory in all of the upcoming 2022 elections. Volunteers working the tables and floors: REPUBLICAN EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE – Jan Mooney, Carol Smykowski, Chris & Rick Allen, Harry & Barbara Anne Oehler, Barry & Margaret Garland, Don Baldwin, and Jeff Mosesso. FLORIDA VICTORY – Karen Osborne, Barry & Margaret Garland, Sue Engler, Patti Foley, Susan Schirmer, Doug Broomell and Lew Broomell. And a special appearance by the FV Goodwill Ambassador – Scruffy the Republican Dog. Thanks to HRIR for recruiting three volunteers from knocking on doors! 2nd AMENDMENT - Lamarre Notargiacomo, John Archibald, Julie Caye, Larry Boswell, Bill Griffin, and John Lyman. 9 Voter Registrations were obtained for the weekend by FV and REC. 123 signatures were obtained on the initial offering of the Citizen Petition for Constitutional Carry for Florida. Potential new members for REC: 1 Guest card for the August meeting was issued by Barry Garland to an attendee interested in the REC. Conversations regarding folks moving from other states to FL: A couple from New Hampshire (Meredith area) stopped by the table. They had sold their home and moved to Indian River County to get away from NH politics. They noted even though the Governor is a Republican, the state is purple with a lot of Democrat officials. It was enough for them to leave and find some relief in Florida. A couple from Chicago, IL. told us that they had moved to Nevada, had stayed a few years but had gotten sick and tired of Nevada’s politics and decided to move to Indian River County, FL. Understandably, the politics are much better here, and they noted they will be voting straight Republican from now on to keep it that way. Special Acknowledgement for this one: A couple from Connecticut stopped by the table with their two children. They are now living in Indian River County. I asked the dad if they were registered to vote here – “Yes.” I then asked if his daughter, who looked to be of voting age, was registered to vote also. Dad responded, “She’s in training for that right now.” Interesting answer I thought and not what I had expected, but very proactive. I then asked if it would be OK to give his young son an American flag and got the OK to do so. After that, I picked up one of our Constitution booklets and spoke to Dad again saying “Here, Sir, your kids are not getting this information in school anymore.” His answer was immediate and corrective – “YES, They Are!” I was taken back for a second and Dad promptly informed me – “Because We Homeschool!” Wow! Must be reported along with the good news - there was much disappointment expressed by attendees of the 29 US House and Senate Republican elected officials who voted with the Democrats to pass the gun control bill masquerading as a school safety bill recently signed by president Biden. More to be discussed on this later as all the facts are collected. Future Action Recommendations: Next Gun Show is Sept. 24-25. Focus our efforts on motivating Voters to get out in large numbers to the November 2022 General Election with information flyers and handouts defining Our candidates vs. the Opposition candidates. Emphasize the stark contrasts between Republicans upholding our Traditional American Values and Principles VS. those of the Socialist Democrat Party’s ideology and actions promoting Big, oppressive government at the expense of our Freedoms and Rights. Highlight Democrat Party and Biden-Harris-Pelosi-Schumer Administration Failures and present the Republican Agenda to Recover. We need to show the Voters a credible and supportable Plan to Stop the Nonsense and Recover our Republic. Questions to ask our Voters to get them thinking and even more motivated to get out and Vote: “Are you better off now than you were two years ago?” “If No, Do You Know Why?” “Do you want your Freedoms back yet?” “Help us get them.” Gun Show Nov. 5-6. Jeff Mosesso Pct. 32 (soon to be 29) Committeeman RNC Statement on Historic Victory for Life Shared by: Peter M. Feaman, RPOF National Committeeman [email protected] Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel released the following statement on the historic U.S. Supreme Court victory for life: "Life wins! Millions of Americans are celebrating today’s ruling and a pro-life movement that has worked tirelessly for decades. For a half century unelected judges have dictated America’s abortion laws. This historic ruling rightfully returns power to the American people to enact laws that protect unborn children and support mothers everywhere. As this debate now returns to the states and the American people, we know there is still much work ahead. Republicans will continue to advocate for life, uphold the law, and stand against an extreme Democrat Party’s pro-abortion agenda.” RPOF CHAIRMAN JOE GRUTERS' MESSAGE Update and Registration for Sunshine Summit July 22-23 Available in HAPPENINGS Governor DeSantis Adds More Protections for Floridians from Biden’s Border Crisis The Governor announced three significant actions Florida is taking to protect residents from the Biden Border Crisis. First, Governor DeSantis announced that Florida has formed a strike force of state and local law enforcement to interdict human smuggling and human trafficking, and to seize illegal weapons being transported through the state. Second, Governor DeSantis filed a petition with the Florida Supreme Court to impanel a statewide grand jury to examine international human smuggling networks that bring aliens to the southern border, and ultimately to Florida. Third, Governor DeSantis signed Senate Bill 1808, sweeping legislation he proposed to further protect Floridians from the Biden Border Crisis. “Illegal aliens are being smuggled across the border in record numbers, which the reckless policies of the Biden administration facilitate,” Governor DeSantis said. “Today, Florida has taken additional action to protect our state from the effects of what is a full-fledged border crisis.” Read more: [link removed] LG Nuñez Joins Governor DeSantis Endorsing Pro-Parent, Pro-Student School Board Candidates Lieutenant Governor Nuñez joined Governor DeSantis this week in endorsing 10 local school board candidates in Florida who will put children’s education and parental rights ahead of woke agendas that strip parents of rights and endanger children’s well-being. She wrote on Twitter: “Excited to announce the endorsement of these school board candidates across Florida. With a strong pro-student and pro-parent agenda, these future school board members will ensure our children are educated and not indoctrinated.” Read more: [link removed] GOVERNOR RON DESANTIS Floridians' Tax Dollars Prohibited from Going to Corporations that Facilitate the Transport of Illegal Aliens into Florida On Friday, June 17, 2022, Governor Ron DeSantis signed Senate Bill 1808, which prohibits governmental entities, including state agencies and local governments, from contracting with common carriers who knowingly transport illegal aliens into Florida. Governor DeSantis has directed the Department of Management Services (DMS) to immediately enter into rulemaking to implement the provisions of the new law. Additionally, Governor DeSantis has directed executive agencies to review all current contracts, notify all applicable vendors of the new law, and provide written communication to any vendors currently transporting illegal aliens into Florida that their contracts will not be renewed or amended unless they comply with Florida law. “Floridians’ tax dollars should not go to corporations that facilitate the international human smuggling operation encouraged by the Biden administration,” said Governor Ron DeSantis. “I was proud to sign Senate Bill 1808 to protect our state from the effects of Biden’s Border Crisis.” Effective October 1, 2022, all contracts, including grant agreements and economic incentive programs, between governmental entities and common carriers or contracted carriers must include an attestation that the carrier will comply with the new law and a provision for termination of the contract for cause if the carrier violates the new law. Governor DeSantis has directed DMS to immediately develop by rule a common carrier and contracted carrier attestation form. More on the announcement here. Governor Announces Record Breaking Alzheimer’s Funding This week, Governor Ron DeSantis highlighted record funding for Alzheimer’s and related dementias and signed Senate Bill 806, to establish the Ramping up Education of Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia for You (READY) Act. Additionally, the Governor announced that the final pillar of the five-part Dementia Action Plan, created in 2019, has been fulfilled with the establishment of the Florida Alzheimer’s Center for Excellence. The Freedom First Budget signed this month by the Governor included record funding for Alzheimer’s and dementia care, marking a nearly 60% increase in funding since the Governor took office in 2019. “Supporting Floridians suffering from Alzheimer’s and dementia is an important part of supporting our seniors,” said Governor Ron DeSantis. “We are working to make sure that any Floridian suffering from this terrible disease can access resources while also supporting innovative technologies that will open up doors for Alzheimer’s and dementia patients in the future.” “From day one, Governor DeSantis has been dedicated to ensuring Florida is a place where citizens can live well and age well. This record funding and the establishment of the Florida Alzheimer’s Center of Excellence (FACE) show the administration’s continued support for investing in a better tomorrow for all Floridians,” said Department of Elder Affairs Secretary Michelle Branham. “I am especially grateful for the positive impact FACE will have on seniors and their families with early detection, early diagnosis, critical care planning, support, and resources.” The Freedom First budget includes $52.3 million for the Alzheimer’s Disease Initiative Program, an increase of $12 million over the previous year. Additionally, $91.7 million is included for the Community Care for the Elderly Program, an increase of $9 million over the previous year. This program assists functionally impaired seniors to remain in the least restrictive, most suitable environment for their needs. Further, Florida has established the Florida Alzheimer’s Center of Excellence (FACE) under the leadership of Governor Ron DeSantis. This program focuses on enhancing the infrastructure available to support impacted seniors, families, and caregivers. FACE includes innovative partnerships like the one between INSIGHTEC and a consortium of Florida universities that identify patients for the Blood Brain Barrier clinical trials for more effective treatment of Alzheimer’s. First Lady Casey DeSantis Announces Continue the Mission Initiative First Lady Casey DeSantis has announced the launch of the Continue the Mission initiative, which will recruit veterans, military spouses, and former law enforcement officers to be child protective investigators and Department of Children and Families (DCF) case managers, as well as mentors to children in need, new case managers and child protective investigators. Through DCF and the Florida Department of Veterans’ Affairs (FDVA), the initiative will serve as a call to action for veterans, military spouses and former law enforcement officers who still have a desire to serve their communities. “Our veterans, military spouses and former law enforcement officers are a group of men and women who have dedicated their lives to serving our country and keeping our communities safe,” said First Lady Casey DeSantis. “I am excited there is a new pathway for these heroes to ‘Continue the Mission’ through rewarding career and mentorship opportunities protecting Florida’s children. We are not only helping children across the state, but also helping veterans and retired law enforcement with their mental and emotional well-being who may feel as though they’ve lost their purpose once they’ve left active duty or have retired.” This initiative is a collaborative effort led by DCF and FDVA with other state partners, local veterans’ organizations, and community groups. Together, the agencies will actively recruit veterans, military spouses, and former law enforcement officers for flexible career opportunities in the child and family well-being system. They will also identify candidates to serve as mentors for children in need, new case managers and child protective investigators. “We know that working in this field can be a rewarding yet demanding career path,” said Department of Children and Families Secretary Shevaun Harris. “By recruiting candidates and mentors who have already succeeded in high-stress positions, we can build resiliency within our existing workforce, increase job retention and enhance the caliber of services provided to the children and families of Florida.” More information about ‘Continue the Mission’ here: www.myflfamilies.com/continuethemission. SENATOR MARCO RUBIO Senator Rubio’s Anti-Slavery Bill Kicked in This Week Senator Rubio continues to be one of the strongest voices against despots around the world, particularly China. He led passage of a bill that will block importation of goods from companies using slave labor in China. He wrote about it this week at Real Clear Politics: “Slavery has been illegal in the United States for nearly 160 years. And yet, over the past two decades, American businesses and consumers have once again begun to benefit from the horrific practice. “It’s an extremely uncomfortable truth, and for most Americans, it likely comes as a surprise. Until recently, they probably had no idea that the clothes they wear, the phones they cannot put down, and the solar panels on their roofs were made, in part, by slaves. The same cannot be said of the companies that eagerly ship jobs overseas to China and source materials from concentration camps. “Thankfully, all of that is about to change. Starting on June 21, U.S. Customs and Border Protection will block any company seeking to import goods mined, produced, or manufactured, either in whole or in part, by Uyghurs and other persecuted ethnic groups – unless the company can provide conclusive evidence that no forced labor was used at any point in the international supply chain. It is a high burden of proof, but it is necessary given the lack of transparency in China and America’s unwillingness to enforce a 1930 law prohibiting the importation of goods made by slaves. “The implementation of the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act, which I led with Sen. Merkley and Reps. McGovern and Smith, will also be the most significant change in America’s relationship with China since 2001, when the communist nation joined the World Trade Organization.” Read the entire column here: [link removed] Rubio Moves to Block Biden from Expanding Abortion with Emergency Orders Sen. Marco Rubio introduced a bill on Thursday that would prevent the White House from using federal emergency authority to expand access to abortion and target states that seek to enforce restrictions on the procedure. The Prohibiting Federal Emergencies for Abortion Act was drafted in response to reports that President Biden is considering issuing executive orders in response to the upcoming Supreme Court ruling on abortion, which could include declaring a public health emergency. “President Biden and Democrats are hell-bent on preserving the practice of murdering unborn Americans,” Rubio told The Washington Times. “We should be protecting the lives of innocent babies, not Planned Parenthood’s ability to kill them. I will do everything I can to protect life and block this gross abuse of presidential power.” The legislation would bar the president and future presidents from using their authority to expand abortion services under the National Emergencies Act, the Public Health Service Act, and the Robert T. Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act, also known as the Stafford Act. The bill would also prohibit the White House and HHS from declaring a public health emergency for “promoting, supporting, or expanding access to abortion” and “prohibiting, restricting, or providing for litigation against states that outlaw abortion.” The Providing for Life Act: A Pro-Life Plan for Post-Roe America Senator Marco Rubio released the framework for his Providing for Life Act. The legislation combines new and existing Rubio pro-family proposals to provide comprehensive support for pregnant and new moms, as well as young children. Rubio previewed the bill in an op-ed in the Washington Times and announced the framework in an op-ed in the Washington Examiner. “For years, I have emphasized that Congress can and must do more for unborn children and their mothers,” Rubio said. “We need to adopt pro-life policies that support families, rather than destroy them. This comprehensive legislation would make a real difference to American parents and children in need.” The legislation includes Rubio’s New Parents Act which among other things would: Enable paid parental leave. Expand tax relief for adoptive parents. Rubio’s legislation would make the adoption tax credit fully refundable. Expand access to social services by lowering barriers to faith-based organizations’ participation. Establish a grant program to fund integrated mentoring services for low-income mothers. Create a federal clearinghouse of resources for pregnant women. Expand support for pro-life crisis pregnancy centers. Enforce rights for pregnant college students: Rubio’s legislation includes his Pregnant Students Rights Act. Unity - Calling All Republicans Time to Come Together!
