Today, I spoke at the Democratic Party of Wisconsin’s 2022 State Convention. I’ll be honest, I had a speech prepared for this weekend — but then, the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade. When I got up on stage and looked out at the crowd, so many of us in the room had fewer rights today than we did just 72 hours ago. Quite frankly—I’m pissed off. I’m pissed off because we have had 50 years to codify Roe into law, but the U.S. Senate has failed to prioritize our reproductive freedom. Thank goodness Wisconsinites have Tammy Baldwin fighting for us, but she needs a partner who’s going to fight just as hard as she does to get this done. That’s why I’m running to unseat Ron Johnson — because I’m sick of this issue being treated as some sort of extra credit project, even with our own party. And I believe if we had more Democratic women in the U.S. Senate like Tammy, we would have prioritized this a long time ago. But let’s be clear: The real culprit here is Ron Johnson. He said Wisconsinites could MOVE if they don’t like the cruel 1849 abortion ban that has gone back into effect. I have news for Ron Johnson: We are the majority. We are not moving, and we are going to send him packing this November — and I’m the woman who’s going to do it. I’m pissed, but I know I’m not alone. I’m joined by millions of people across the country who are just as angry and fired up about this as I am. We won’t stop fighting until our right to abortion is protected nationwide. Thanks for reading. — Sarah Godlewski
