Folks, Alabama is stamped into my DNA. It’s part of who I am, and it’s the reason I fight every day for our future. I refuse to forget where I came from, because without it I wouldn't be who I am today.

You might not know this about me, but my family has called Alabama home for generations. My grandfather did backbreaking labor as a sharecropper, and my family used every resource available to them to ensure that the next generation would have access to the things they didn’t.

It’s because of my family’s support that a little Black girl from Selma, Alabama was able to attend Princeton, and later Harvard Law. But no matter how high I managed to climb, I refused to forget that my roots are planted firmly in Alabama’s soil.

Now, I’m the only Black woman and Democrat in Alabama’s congressional delegation, and I’m fighting my hardest to make sure everyone has access to the resources and opportunities they need to thrive.

But I can’t do this alone. I’m facing my first Republican opponent in over a decade in one of the toughest election years in recent history. If I’m going to continue this fight for Alabama, I’m going to need your help.
