Hi there,

Joe Goldberg, Eric Sorensen’s Campaign Manager here. We’re in the middle of our Get Out the Vote weekend on the campaign, and I wanted to introduce myself.

I knew that this was going to be an incredibly difficult cycle for Democrats and when deciding where I wanted to work, I knew I wanted two things:

1. I wanted a seat that mattered
2. I wanted a different type of candidate

Working for Eric here in IL-17 checked both of those boxes easily. IL-17 will be one of the most contested seats this fall. Both party committees have already lined up more than $7M in ad buys. Our MAGA opponent has $1.5M in the bank. The Democratic party has made it clear this seat is a priority; we can’t afford to lose it, because there aren’t two seats to gain elsewhere.

Eric’s background is certainly different. As the community’s weatherman, he’s well known, liked, and trusted. IL-17 is geographically spread out, and he’s worked on TV for two decades in two of the three larger cities. We know Republicans are going to attack every Democrat this fall. It’s going to be much more difficult to paint him as something that he’s not. Why? Voters here already know and trust him.

When we’re out in public, we can’t go more than five minutes without someone coming up to talk to him. I’ve never seen anything like it. There’s a genuine admiration for him. They want to tell him that they’re voting for him, that they loved a particular story he did, or that he saved their life by giving them advice during severe weather. I’m sure you’ve heard his stories by now – voters from all partisan stripes flocking to him because they know and trust him.

I, Eric, and our whole team are grateful for your support. The reality is Eric needs your help. GOTV weekend is well underway, and Eric is out talking to voters all day. We still have a few thousand dollars left to raise.

Can you chip in any amount so we can keep Eric in the streets knocking on doors? You can contribute online here: [link removed]

Thank you again, and please don’t hesitate to reach out at any point.
