A note from the NDRC team…

We want to acknowledge that the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade is hitting many people hard. This decision will cause tremendous harm. The NDRC is committed to working for a future in which all human rights are protected.

John – When it comes to why we need to stay in the fight for fair maps, A.G. Holder said it best:

Here's just some of what we can do with the help of grassroots supporters like you:

1. Build On State-of-the-Art Mapping Capabilities
In several states where litigation is pending – including North Carolina, Ohio, Texas, and others – it’s possible that some new maps will need to be drawn before the 2024 elections. So to get ready, we’re investing in new technologies, data, and mapping innovations.
2. Improve Redistricting Reforms
In 2018 and 2020, we helped pass redistricting reforms that were instrumental in securing fair maps in states like Colorado and Michigan. Moving forward, we plan to build on these successes to help achieve bold redistricting reforms in even more states.
3. Target Elections Key to Redistricting
Plus, all over the country, the GOP is ramping up their efforts to target races across the country, including state court elections in an effort to elect judges they believe will rubber stamp gerrymandered maps. That means we need to prepare for the long term by electing pro-democracy leaders.

The good news is our work in 2018 and 2020 made a big difference for Democrats running for state-level offices. In states like Pennsylvania, Kansas, and Wisconsin, Democratic governors ended up vetoing manipulated maps. And this year, we’re targeting races in 17 states that will have a big impact on the future of redistricting.

Yes, it's a lot of work. Which is why grassroots support from people like you is so important! John, if you want to strengthen American democracy, now and in the future, will you chip in to the NDRC today?

Thank you,
Team NDRC
