Supreme Court Overturns Roe v. Wade

On Friday, the Supreme Court announced their ruling on Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization which overturned the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision on abortion. This decision is an important step forward to protect the right to life of the unborn and end the tragedy of abortion.  It also marked a return to our constitutional norm of rights and powers being reserved to the states, and a federal government of limited and enumerated powers. Defending Our Second Amendment Rights

Friday afternoon, I voted against the Senate's gun control bill. The right to keep and bear arms is a foundational principle of our nation. Significant portions of the bill have the potential to infringe upon the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding Americans. Democrats Care More About Political Wins than Helping the American People

It remains clear that Financial Services Committee Democrats are more focused on scoring “wins” for politically vulnerable members than addressing the economic devastation caused by their reckless policies. Wednesday’s committee markup was just the latest example. In my opening remarks, I highlighted how the partisan legislation being marked up does nothing to stabilize consumer prices, bring down the cost of gas, or fix our broken supply chains. Meeting With Tenth District Students in Washington

It was great to visit with a group of Junior ROTC students from West Forsyth High School as they competed in the national finals of the JROTC Leadership and Academic Championship in Washington last week. Please join me in congratulating these remarkable young men and women from the Tenth District on being one of only forty teams nationwide to compete in the championship!

NC’s congressional Republicans call on Feds to investigate pro-life center attacks

Like so many others, I’ve been horrified and disgusted by the recent violence against pro-life organizations, including a recent attack right here in North Carolina. Recently, I joined some of my Republican colleagues in sending a letter to U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland calling on the DOJ to investigate the multiple attacks on pro-life pregnancy-support centers as domestic terrorism. This kind of violence is unacceptable and it must end.
