Now that the Supreme Court has overturned Roe v. Wade, Democrats in Washington must act to codify abortion rights at the federal level.

It’s clear that most Americans believe that abortion care should be safe, accessible, and legal. Our elected officials have a duty to heed the will of the people and defend reproductive health care against far-right attacks.

Roy has already vetoed anti-choice legislation passed by the Republican-controlled legislature. He is committed to doing everything possible to continue protecting reproductive rights for North Carolinians, but this goes far beyond our state.

If the GOP takes back control in Washington, D.C., after the next presidential election, they could move to ban abortion nationwide. We need Democratic leaders to act NOW, before Republicans have that chance.

What it comes down to is this: Reproductive rights are fundamental, and we will not go back.
