LIFE WINS: Elise and House GOP Leadership Release Statement on the Dobbs Decision

Elise joined House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy and House Republican Whip Steve Scalise in issuing the following statement in response to the U.S. Supreme Court's decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization:


“Every unborn child is precious, extraordinary, and worthy of protection. We applaud this historic ruling, which will save countless innocent lives.


“The Supreme Court is right to return the power to protect the unborn to the people’s elected representatives in Congress and the states. In the days and weeks following this decision, we must work to continue to reject extreme policies that seek to allow late-term abortions and taxpayer dollars to fund these elective procedures.


“The people’s representatives must defend the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness for every American - born and unborn. As we celebrate today's decision, we recognize the decades of advocacy from the pro-life movement and we acknowledge much work remains to protect the most vulnerable among us."

Elise Votes Against Unconstitutional Gun Control Legislation

On Friday, Elise voted NO on unconstitutional gun legislation which would take away due process rights while having no effect on deterring criminals who do not follow the law when obtaining firearms. Read her full statement below:

“I will continue to stand up for the Constitution and Second Amendment Rights of my constituents.


This gun control bill contains unconstitutional red flag laws that take away due process rights and will have no effect on deterring criminals who do not follow the law when obtaining firearms. Instead, it creates arbitrary waiting periods for law-abiding adults and increases the role of the federal government into the lives of Americans. Additionally, this bill seeks to make gun owners second-class citizens and would increase the number of Americans would are barred from possessing firearms.


The Constitution is on our side. Just this week, the Supreme Court ruled to protect Second Amendment rights against New York’s radical gun control provisions. In the face of any attempt to shred our Constitution, I will continue to stand up for Second Amendment rights and push for solutions to address the crime crisis in our country.”

Elise Praises Huge Win for New Yorkers’ Second Amendment Rights

On Thursday, the Supreme Court released its decision on New York State Rifle and Pistol Association v. Bruen, a case that challenged New York’s unconstitutional concealed carry restrictions on law-abiding gun owners. The Court’s ruling in favor of the Second Amendment followed Elise’s leadership alongside Congresswoman Claudia Tenney to file an amicus brief in the Supreme Court on this case. Elise said:

“Today’s Supreme Court ruling upholds the Constitutional rights of law-abiding citizens to keep and bear arms and correctly declares New York’s shameful attempt to shred Second Amendment rights of New Yorkers unconstitutional…While the Far-Left continues to push unconstitutional gun control measures as New York’s failed bail reform policies have made our communities more unsafe, this ruling comes at a crucial time. Now, law-abiding gun owners in New York State and across the nation can again exercise their Constitutional right to concealed carry to protect themselves and their families.”

Elise Pushes Bipartisan National Defense Bill and Ensures Provisions for Fort Drum, Upstate NY, and the North Country

As a senior House Armed Services Committee member and the chief advocate for Fort Drum, Elise voted to advance the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for 2023. In doing so, Elise supported a pay raise for our troops. Elise said:

"As the leading advocate for Fort Drum and the 10th Mountain Division, I am proud to give Upstate New York and the North Country a seat at the highest levels, as I work to advance initiatives to protect and strengthen the Fort Drum community, fully equip our troops, increase our military readiness, and support the families of service-members in our district. Our country must never fall behind in providing for a strong national defense. The provisions in this NDAA invest in emerging technologies, secure supply chains of critical components for our military platforms, and ensure our military readiness to meet the United States’ national security needs. This is critical to promoting peace through strength in the face of the rapidly evolving military threats posed by China, Russia,
Iran, and North Korea. For these reasons, I am proud to have advanced a defense bill that puts taxpayer dollars to good use by strengthening our military and providing a well-deserved pay raise to our brave men and women in uniform as they work to keep us safe."

Elise Continues Push to Hold Big Tech Accountable for Political Bias
This week, continuing her effort to hold Big Tech companies accountable, Elise cosponsored the Political Bias in Algorithm Sorting Emails Act (Political BIAS Emails Act) which would take a critical step in increasing transparency on Big Tech’s biased algorithms that censor conservatives. Elise said:

"Using algorithms to filter conservative emails as spam is one more way Big Tech is censoring conservative ideas, and I am proud to join my colleagues in addressing this issue by increasing transparency for Big Tech’s actions. Emails should not be subject to politicized filters, because the American people should be able to receive information without Big Tech picking and choosing their political priorities."

Elise Welcomes E-PAC Endorsed Mayra Flores to Congress
Elise joined House Republicans in welcoming Congresswoman Mayra Flores to Congress after her historic Special Election victory in Texas last Tuesday. At a press conference with Mayra, Elise talked about how Americans are united behind Republicans like Mayra. She said in part:

"From California to Texas to New York, Americans are uniting behind Republicans like our newest member, Mayra Flores and Connie Conway, who was sworn in last week, because families know they cannot afford to live under Democrats’ Far-Left failed Socialist rule. In less than two cycles, House Republicans went from only 13 Republican women to 35, and we are just getting started. This year, we have the most diverse Republican candidates running for Congress in history. The American people want and deserve a new direction…


We are just a short few months away and four seats from firing Lame Duck Speaker Nancy Pelosi once and for all. And today, Congresswoman Mayra Flores brought us one step and one seat closer."

Elise Secures Over $2.3 Million for Head Start Programs in NY-21's Washington County
Elise recently announced that the Washington County Economic Opportunity Council would receive over $2.3 million. The Head Start program delivers comprehensive early childhood education and development services to promote school readiness for children in low-income households. Elise said:

"Today, I am announcing over 2.3 million in taxpayer dollars will be returned to New York's 21st District to support Head Start programs in Washington County. I look forward to witnessing how this grant will help Head Start continue its mission of ensuring school readiness to equip our youngest students in Washington County."



Elise Pushes Solutions to Help Farmers
Elise cosponsored the Reducing Farm Input Costs and Barriers to Domestic Production Act to require the Biden Administration to undo its regulatory barriers that hurt domestic agricultural production and provide immediate relief to families across the nation, including in the North Country and Upstate New York. Elise stated:

"As farmers in Upstate New York and the North Country face skyrocketing inflation and energy costs, Joe Biden's burdensome regulatory agenda continues to hurt farmers and families. Our hardworking producers deserve better, which is why I am proud to join my Republican colleagues to introduce solutions to reverse Biden's harmful regulatory burdens and reduce farm input costs. At a time when every family is forced to pay more for gas and groceries, this is a critical start to bring down the skyrocketing costs of goods."


Elise Demands Answers on New York State's Use of Federal Funds to Implement Critical Race Theory
Elise has always taken a stance against racist Critical Race Theory. This past week, she joined Republican Leader of the House Committee on Education and Labor Virginia Foxx (R-NC) in sending a letter to New York Education Commissioner Betty Rosa to follow up on a letter she wrote demanding answers on the use of COVID-19 funds to implement this racist ideology.


Elise also penned an Op-Ed with Chris Rufo Calling Out New York State's CRT Curriculum, writing:

“Fortunately, parents are too smart to fall for this game. When they see kids as young as two or three being labeled as inherently racist because of the color of their skin, parents know this is fundamentally wrong and un-American. When they hear of students being forced to do privilege walks or apologize for their "white guilt," parents know it only seeks to define and divide children by race. When meritocracy and the constitutional guarantee to equality under the law are attacked, parents know this is an affront idea that Americans from all racial backgrounds should have opportunities to achieve their full potential. Call it whatever you want, this radical ideology does not belong in the classroom.”

Elise Cosponsors the Educational Choice for Children Act
Elise cosponsored the Education Choice for Children Act, which would encourage individuals and businesses to sponsor scholarship awards to help cover K-12 public and private education costs. This would increase the ability of rural parents to choose school options that better fit their lives. Elise stated:

"Educational choice is a critical way to provide the best opportunities for our students, and this bill will allow families to determine the highest quality and most suitable education for their children…Importantly, this legislation can equip students in rural communities with additional supports to supplement their learning in the local school, bringing new opportunities to families that have traditionally lacked educational options. I will continue to empower parents to be able to choose what is best for their children's education, regardless of zip code."
