Dear Friends,

Please join NRCAT and anti-torture activists around the globe today as we commemorate the International Day in Support of Victims of Torture. On June 26, 1987, the Convention Against Torture and other Cruel, Inhuman and Degrading Treatment or Punishment was established by the United Nations, and the global community has used this day to lift up the inhumanity of torture every year since.

We honor the leadership and resilience of survivors of torture, including those who are leading campaigns from coast to coast to end the torture of solitary confinement. NRCAT’s new film, Torture in Our Name, spotlights several of these leaders and their compelling stories. I invite you to spend time today or sometime in the coming week viewing and sharing the film. Draw on your faith or your sense of justice to hold space for these voices calling us all to action in our quest to end torture, forever.

Your donation to NRCAT on this special day supports our work to promote this new film and to build our new NRCAT National Network of Solitary Survivors. Together, we can elevate the sacred voices of the survivors of torture and work to abolish it once and for all.

Thank you for all you do,

Ron Stief
Executive Director
