On Friday, the Supreme Court finally overturned Roe v. Wade, ending 50 years of judicial overreach and a nationwide abortion-on-demand regime. For the first time since 1973, legislators will be able to pass meaningful laws to protect the lives of unborn children and put mothers and children first.

Unfortunately, not all the news this week is as positive as the Court’s Dobbs decision.

The Biden administration has been waging a war on Americans’ wallets and rights, and the consequences of his out-of-touch liberal policies are felt in every state. Biden and his crew of far-Left cronies are now desperately trying to backpedal, acting as though the struggles facing our nation aren’t their fault in the first place.

No amount of placing blame or distracting social media virtue-signaling will ever be able to make up for the destruction the Biden administration and the radical Left has brought to our country. Let’s take a look at exactly what they’ve been up to this week and how Heritage Action (with your help!) is stopping this spiral.

PRO-LIFE VICTORY; Far-Left Groups Threaten Violence

The Supreme Court ruled Friday on the Dobbs decision, protecting the unborn and giving power back to the states. This is a fight that was won after years of dedication, persistence, and courage, and it could not have happened without the support of patriots like you. The first fundamental right of this country was restored, and for that, we should all be celebrating!

Lawmakers in the states and at the federal level have full freedom to defend the unborn once more, and Americans are increasingly more passionate about protecting life. Heritage Action’s Executive Director, Jessica Anderson, said, “Today’s official Dobbs decision finally allows the elected representatives of the American people to end decades of injustice and save millions of babies with beating hearts from the ravages of the abortion industry. Unfortunately, the days of peaceful protests and tolerant discourse are disappearing. We have seen a spike in violent and destructive crime against churches, pregnancy care centers, and pro-life groups…and it’s only going to get worse. “This kind of love and sacrifice is anathema to the straw man the Left has constructed about the pro-life movement. They recognize its power — that is why the most radical elements of their movement are bent on destroying it.”

Susan B Anthony List reports that there have been over 50 attacks on Pro-Life groups and pregnancy care centers since the Alito opinion leaked on May 3rd. A very real threat on the life of Justice Brett Kavanaugh was thwarted. Pro-abortion activists groups have literally called for an “open season” on operating pro-life groups. The Department of Justice must investigate these violent campaigns.

We should be a country of law and order, protecting the right to hold differing opinions without fear of violent reactions. We are thankful for the victory for the unborn today, and we pray for our cities, churches, pregnancy care organizations, and all other organizations who may face violent retaliation.

Title IX and redefining "sex"

The Biden administration is pushing a new rule that radically alters the content of Title IX. This new rule would redefine “sex” to include “sex stereotypes, sex-related characteristics (including intersex traits), pregnancy or related conditions, sexual orientation, and gender identity”. This will be devastating to women. Here’s some of what it will do:

• Negatively impact educational and career opportunities for women
• Contradict state laws in thirteen states that protect students and prevent male athletes from competing in women’s sports
• Harm childhood development by redefining sex and gender
• Deprive women of privacy and safety

Women are a driving force of the power, economy, family, success, and future of our nation. Stunting their opportunities, threatening their safety, and preventing their path to success in the name of “fairness” or “equality” will be devastating for generations to come.

Protecting our kids

Protecting and defending our children must be a top priority. No one can argue against that. And that’s exactly why the Second Amendment exists.

Simply put, everyone has a natural right to defend one’s own life and the lives of their family. Restricting and banning firearms is a deprivation of that natural—and Constitutional—right.

But to fully understand why the “red flag law” provision of the Senate’s restrictive gun bill is so unjust, one must read further than the Second Amendment.

The Fifth Amendment to our Constitution reads “No person shall…be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law.”

In every case where a state has instituted a red flag law, due process has not been upheld. Often, individuals are even denied the right to a lawyer and the ability to present arguments in their own defense. Constitutional rights must not be so carelessly infringed.

It is sad that in the same week the Supreme Court released a 6-3 decision upholding the right to bear arms, the Senate and House both passed a bill to restrict that right without due process.
