As former Chief Justice of the North Carolina Supreme Court, I want to be 100% clear: Reproductive freedom is a constitutional right.
This decision is exactly what extreme right-wing politicians like my opponent Ted Budd fought for. Next on their list is a full federal ban on abortion. Ted Budd wants a total ban on abortion without exceptions. And it will not stop there. This decision also lays the groundwork for attacks on LGBTQ+ rights from the Supreme Court.
I know this is a devastating moment. I share your anger, fear, and frustration, but I know that we cannot give in to defeat. We cannot back down. With our rights at stake, we must elect Senators who will expand our majority and protect our rights -- and that is exactly the opportunity we have in North Carolina.
