John,

I'm about to ask you to make an urgent $3 donation before our public fundraising deadline hits in 5 days. Yesterday's Supreme Court decision has given this deadline a whole new meaning – let me pull back the curtain and explain what I mean:

June 30th marks the first public FEC fundraising deadline in our general election campaign to unseat Michelle Steel. Everyone will be watching closely to see whether we have what it takes to win here.

Election forecasters all consider CA-45 to be among the Democrats' best (and very few) pickup opportunities in the country. That means the outcome here could literally determine which party has House control.

It's pretty simple: A win means a chance at codifying Roe v. Wade and ending the nightmare caused by yesterday's SCOTUS ruling. A loss means giving extremists like Michelle Steel a chance at enacting a nationwide abortion ban.

I'm not keen on being so black and white, John, but these are the real stakes we face. And since I’m relying on grassroots donors to flip this seat, you are a key piece of our success. So I need to ask:

Before our FEC deadline hits, I’m humbly asking you to chip in your first donation of $15, $35, or even $50 to help us defeat Michelle Steel and flip this seat from red to blue.

Steel hasn’t been shy about using deceptive smears against us in the media. And at least one Republican super PAC has pledged nearly $2 million in TV attacks against us.

I am not going to take this fight lying down. There is too much at stake, and I intend to win. But I cannot do that alone:

Send in $3 to help stop extremists like Steel. With everything going on, we're looking for a large number of individuals to step up today.
