We're fighting this on all fronts and we won't be silenced. You are receiving this email as one of Alexandra’s most engaged followers. We outnumber you 170 million to five. And we’re not the sort of women who’ll just stay silent and let men run our lives. Because you know what? The Supreme Court can’t get rid of our First Amendment rights to speak out. And they can’t get rid of our Nineteenth Amendment right to vote. I’m asking you to join me in exercising these rights, so we can protect the rights that the Supreme Court just stole from us. So we need to do three things: First, we need to march together to show everyone that we’re not going anywhere, that we have the right to make our own healthcare decisions, that we have the right to our own bodies, and that no one can take those away from us. We're already out there and we need you out there too. Second, we start with state legislatures. The Supreme Court has invited right-wing legislatures across the country to ban abortion; some of them have anti-choice laws that are automatically triggered by today’s decision. But these legislators need to know what their decisions mean for everyday women—women like their mothers, their spouses, their daughters. I received a message a few months ago from Kathryn, who wrote: Hi Alexandra, my name is Kathryn, and I’m a 42 year old mother of three. Four years ago, I had an abortion because my husband and I realized we were not ready to have twins with cerebral palsy. It was the hardest decision we’d ever made as a couple, and at the time I thought it would break me. But it was the right decision for me and my family. I’m a voter and glad I can vote for candidates like you who are telling our stories and fighting for our rights. Kathryn is not a criminal. She made the best decision that she could, for her and her family, under difficult circumstances. Could state legislators—would state legislators—really deny the same opportunity to their own families? The last thing is this: If a state legislator thinks that he has the right to make our healthcare decisions for us, then there’s a ballot with his name on it. And you better believe I’m checking the other name. Every November, we have to vote out anyone who pretends that they know better than us, our families, and our doctors. So let’s start by sending a clear message that we won’t be silenced, and we aren’t going anywhere. Sign my petition now to make your voice heard. ADD YOUR NAME >> I'm sending this petition to every media outlet that will listen, to the millions of people whom I’ve already connected with by email, and to every congressional and state legislative official who has a publicly available email. And when the numbers come in, the legislators who think they can strip us of our rights will know exactly how wrong they are. Because I’m not going anywhere, and neither are you.
