Eric Sorensen, meteorologist and Democrat running for Congress in IL-17 here. Here in Illinois, we have the good fortune (and Democratic leadership) to have expansive access to the polls - early voting, vote by mail, and on Election Day of course. For me, early voting was the best way I could make my voice heard AND keep up with knocking on as many doors as possible before June 28th.
And this is the final weekend of early voting, so if you have a minute or two, today or tomorrow are good days to vote! You can find your early voting location here: HERE.
Voting was different this year! For the first time, I got to see my own name and actually cast a ballot for myself for public office.
This is an opportunity I take seriously. Since our campaign’s launch in November, I’ve had countless conversations with first-time voters, longtime activists, and people just trying to make ends meet. Voting is the best way our community gets to make our voice heard. And then it’s my job to take our community’s voice with me to Congress. This campaign is centered around listening – let me tell you, I hear what our community needs loud and clear.
P.S. If you prefer to vote on Election Day, you can find your polling location HERE, and if you are voting by mail, make sure to postmark and submit by June 28!
