This is personal for me, friend. I watched my first wife be denied her right to a medically necessary abortion. I know what that gut punch of fear and helplessness feels like. It's terrifying – and it's a feeling that millions of families have experienced.
In issuing this ruling, which destroys nearly half a century of precedent, the Supreme Court is essentially telling those families, "We don't care about your pain. We don't care about your health. We don't care about your right to control your own bodies and determine your own futures."
I refuse to accept that this is our future. As Senator from Michigan and Chair of the DSCC, you have my promise that I will do everything – everything – within my power to restore the rights promised by Roe v. Wade and pass legislation that will protect reproductive freedoms for generations to come.
That's why I've set a goal to raise $15,000 for the National Network of Abortion Funds and the Reclaim MI WIN Fund.
