Mere hours after the ruling, GOP House leader Kevin McCarthy made clear that his party is going to push for national policies that restrict abortion rights. While states like Delaware still fully protect abortion rights, a Republican Congress could change that.
I'm going to work hard this summer for all available federal assistance for people in states that have now banned abortion. I'll use my platform to advocate against the outrageous, discriminatory, and dangerous laws in 24 states.
But I'm also going to be making sure that we hold the line in the states where abortion remains legal — it's one of the first steps we have to take in what's going to be a long road ahead toward restoring nationwide reproductive freedom. So we cannot allow the Republicans to gain ground in their efforts to flip the House.
