Hi Friend,
I was deeply saddened and stunned by yesterday’s Supreme Court decision to reverse decades of settled law on the right to choose. The landmark Roe v. Wade ruling was the result of decades of struggle and advocacy for individuals to make safe, legal choices with their healthcare provider.
This extreme reversal puts millions of Americans at risk of being legally prosecuted for seeking healthcare or helping others do the same. We have taken a giant step backward as abortion access will be denied, and many Texans will again risk and lose their lives exercising their fundamental right to bodily autonomy.
In utterly bleak times like these, it’s so easy to lose hope and give up on the country whose ideals and promises we believe to be our own. But now is not the time to back down from this fight.
That’s why Chairman Hinojosa and I issued an open letter -- [link removed] -- urging our Democratic law enforcement officials, District Attorneys, Judges, and mayors across the state to refuse to enforce this draconian ruling. We’ve elected our Democratic leaders to step up and take a stand in moments like these, moments where their constituents need them most.
But we can’t stop there. We will not rest until the leadership at every level of our state reflects the will of the 78% of Texans who believe in the right to an abortion. The Supreme Court has put the power to protect abortion in the hands of the states -- so let’s show them just how powerful our state can be.
Friend, can I count on you to rush a $7 contribution to elect leaders fighting to reinstate and expand reproductive liberty in Texas?

One out of every ten Americans who can get pregnant lives here in Texas. We owe it to them to give our all to this fight in November.
While I am disappointed, I remain determined. I hope you feel the same.
All the best,
