Today’s decision by the far-right US Supreme Court, overturning Roe v. Wade, endangers millions of people’s lives, particularly in already-marginalized communities.

Access to safe abortion care was already hard for many people. But now, with at least half of states certain or likely to ban abortion care, we need to help people who can get pregnant access the care they need―particularly low-income people and people of color who already faced barriers to access healthcare due to systemic racism.

In Michigan, abortion care is still legal. One of the best ways to fight back right now is supporting abortion care directly through abortion funds.

The Michigan WIN Fund helps cover the cost of the clinic fee for abortion care, as well as other needs such as childcare support, lodging, food, and transportation costs to and from the clinic (which can be over 100 miles).

Can you chip in $5 or more to the Michigan WIN Fund to help people access abortion care?

Some of the barriers that people have to overcome to access abortion care include:

• Raising funds in time to have their abortion when income is low
• Transportation to and from the clinic, which can be over 100 miles and in another state
• Extended time away from work that could lead to job loss
• Childcare needs when they may be gone for over 24 hours

As we fight on the state and federal level to affirm our right to abortion care in all 50 states, we must support abortion funds now, which provide the care that every person seeking out an abortion deserves—helping people pay for often-expensive procedures. States, like Michigan, where abortion care is still legal will see a massive increase in people seeking abortion care from out of state.
