John – did you see this tweet from Trudy?

"In the Senate, you can always count on me to stand up to the gun lobby and stand up for victims of gun violence."

Americans have had more than enough senseless gun violence in our schools, our places of worship, and our communities. Now that the Senate has reached a bipartisan deal to enact commonsense gun reform – such as expanding background checks – we've cleared a real hurdle. But there's still so much work ahead of us. We have to ensure that this bill passes the House and the Senate and then we have to keep on working to pass the other reforms that we desperately need.

It's time for change – and that'll only happen if we elect leaders like Trudy who will bring compassion, kindness, and common sense to Washington.

As a nurse, a mother, and an American, Trudy knows that we need more people in Washington who will take real action to make our communities and our children safer. She'll work her heart out to win the gun reform that the vast majority of Americans support – and she's not afraid to take on the gun lobby to get it done.

But standing up to the gun lobby and extremists is no easy task. Trudy is counting on your early grassroots support to win this race. So please, before our 11:59 p.m. deadline, can you pitch in $5 to send someone to the Senate who will lead with compassion and can't be bought?
