Friend, Let me cut right to the chase: the National Sheriffs Association (NSA) is an institution that upholds white supremacy across the country by providing sheriffs with the tools and resources necessary to prey on vulnerable Black and brown communities. Our communities cannot be free as long as the sheriffs responsible for our safety are more interested in racially profiling us, incarcerating us, and enacting a white supremacist agenda. The NSA is holding its annual conference in Kansas City, Missouri, next week, and I’m proud to tell you that we are taking our demands straight to their doorstep. Here’s how you can help: On Monday, June 27, more than 100 faith leaders and coalition members will come together for a Day of Action in Kansas City, Missouri. They will attend training sessions on jail deaths and Sheriff 101, and become equipped with the knowledge and tools needed to return home to build campaigns on sheriff accountability and to train and educate their communities. The day will culminate with a press conference calling out the National Sheriffs Association’s history of harboring white supremacists, and sheriffs’ roles in terrorizing and incarcerating BIPOC communities. We need your help to rent the training hall and buy the materials for the press conference. This is a critical action in our work to secure justice, but it costs money to ensure that it will be a success. Will you donate right now to help? |
