So many people have opened their hearts today and made a gift — 675 already! Even so, it looks like we may not meet the ambitious 1,500 donations goal set by members of the Mercy Corps community who voted over the weekend. But this GivingTuesday we and the supporters who are sponsoring this match want to see your gifts go 2x as far. And if at least 1,000 people make gifts today, we can still unlock a $100,000 gift from our group of generous supporters.
Every dollar raised today will power our teams on the ground in over 40 countries to partner with communities on breakthrough solutions to poverty and hunger, connect refugees to the resources they need to survive and thrive in their host communities, help families become more resilient to the effects of climate change, and more. Join in with fellow supporters and help unlock the match with your gift of any amount today. —Adrienne ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: UNLOCK @ mercycorps.org <[email protected]> Date: Tue, Dec 3, 2019 at 12:09 PM Subject: Your GivingTuesday gift helps unlock a $150,000 match! |

ENCLOSED: Your GivingTuesday Match Challenge Status Report ▸ |
Our community never backs down from a challenge. Already today, more than 189 Mercy Corps supporters — compassionate humanitarians just like you — have made generous gifts that will help unlock the $150,000 GivingTuesday match, in just the last few hours! But we need your help, because we still need to unlock this match. Your gift of any size can make a difference. Join fellow Mercy Corps supporters who are choosing this GivingTuesday to make their very first gifts, and help us reach the 1,500 donors goal. If we reach this goal, your donation — EVERY donation — will be matched dollar-for-dollar! When you give, you’ll help families who are already facing the life threatening effects of climate change — people like Ika, a mother of five living in a downstream community in Indonesia. In addition to her fears about what unpredictable weather and increased floods will do to her livelihood as a farmer, Ika also worries about the safety of her children. When the main road in the village floods, kids can’t get to school. "It stopped the school activities and other daily activities," said Ika. "I worry about not only my children but also other children living in this neighborhood. That is why I decided to close the storm drain in front of my house so that children and other people will not fall into it during the floods." Through Mercy Corps programs, Ika has been gaining the knowledge and awareness needed to handle flood dangers for her family, working hand-in-hand with community partners. And those programs can be made possible by supporters like you making your very first gift today.
Now that Ika has the skills, tools and knowledge to keep her kids safe and in school, she’s teaching others what she’s learned, building the resilience of her village and extending the impact of the work this community of humanitarians makes possible. The Mercy Corps community’s generosity is giving Ika, her kids and families all across the world a chance for a brighter, safer tomorrow. Make a gift to help reach our participation goal of 1,500 GivingTuesday donors, and you’ll help EVERY donation get matched up to $150,000, by a group of fellow Mercy Corps supporters. On behalf of the children and families helped through your generosity, thank you. Sincerely, Craig Redmond SVP, Programs |
