Friend,
I am from Venezuela, but I proudly call the United States my home because I was forced to flee socialism in my home country. I have a dire warning for you. Socialists are trying to take over America gradually step by step just like they did in Venezuela.
Let me tell you my family's story, and you’ll frighteningly see the similarities to what is happening in the U.S.
First, I do have an important request.
I am urgently emailing for your support. I am telling my story to high schools around the U.S. Future generations need to know the importance of freedom. If you agree with this critical mission, then please consider donating $5, $17.76, $35, or any amount you can generously afford.
Here’s my family’s story:
My grandfather was a shoemaker. He started out working for others but then created his own business. He went from being a hand-made shoemaker to owning his own factory. In the 1980s, he became a millionaire. Eventually, he went bankrupt but then started another business and succeeded again.
Our family went from poverty to riches. What does this sound like? The American dream, of course.
In the mid to late 1900s, Venezuela was a relatively free and prosperous country.
Economically, Venezuelans had the opportunity to live the rags-to-riches story in their lives. Venezuela became the most prosperous Latin American country.
But all of that changed when the socialists took over. And how did the socialists take over Venezuela? It wasn’t a violent revolution like Cuba, Russia, or China.
Hugo Chavez was elected to office!
Now, you’re starting to see the similarities between Venezuela and the U.S.
Once the socialists took control, the economy went downhill. Venezuela sits on top of the world’s largest oil reserves. Yet, we had lines to get gas in our cars!
Why?
As Milton Friedman once famously said, “if the government were to take over the Sahara Desert, there would be a shortage of sand in five years.”
Oil production shrank to where there were shortages.
That’s not all. We started to have revolving shortages of food. For a few weeks, there would be no bread. Then it would come back for a few weeks and then gone again. Shelves became empty. Sound familiar?
The worst part was the inflation. Hyperinflation hit Venezuela in the 2000s as the government tried to print its way into prosperity. I couldn't fit cash in my wallet to go to the movies because the money was worthless.
I want to tell my story to high school students around the United States. I’m afraid they are being spoon-fed indoctrination. I am a speaker for Young Voice’s Dissident project.

Young Voice’s Dissident project brings survivors of tyrannical socialist countries to high schools around the United States to tell their stories.
We are countering the mainstream narratives about how peaceful and successful socialism can be. Too many young people are taught to believe the United States is an evil, oppressive country and that capitalism is a failure.
Look at the news! They are blaming everything on billionaires right now, despite how the government has caused this mess.
Here’s my warning to you.
If America were to fall to socialism, it will not fall like Russia or China did. The socialist takeover will happen gradually, like in Venezuela.
It will be gradual. You’ll notice the decay. Shortages. Skyrocketing crime. Inflation. More and more government control. Venezuela did not turn socialist overnight. It took years. But eventually, the government seized businesses, including my family's.
Help me share my story with young Americans. They must know the true horrors of socialism.
I am hoping to raise $22,000 online to fund our speakers. It costs roughly $1,000 to host a speaking event on a high school campus.
Young Voices’ Dissident project has speakers from Hong Kong, North Korea, Cuba, and Venezuela. They all have unique stories that high schoolers must hear.
