Dear Colleague,
Today, the Supreme Court of the United States decided to dissolve a pregnant person’s right to bodily autonomy [[link removed]], and indicated that they were ready to regress human rights even further. We know this decision reverberates even outside of the US borders. We grieve this moment with you as we also stand in power with all birthing people and allies.
We’ve been planning for this moment. For example, WFN along with a coalition of funders and other stakeholders, including Funders for Justice, Funders for Reproductive Equity, Groundswell Fund and Ms. Foundation for Women released an open letter calling upon philanthropy to pledge five actions to protect abortion access and reproductive justice. Read more about the effort in the Chronicle of Philanthropy [[link removed]], and in our op-ed today in Inside Philanthropy [[link removed]]. And if you haven’t already, please sign this bold new philanthropic pledge to protect abortion access and reproductive justice [[link removed]]. Nearly 200 organizations have signed on, and this is just the start. We will not stop until we reach freedom for all.
Additionally, WFN is co-hosting a virtual funder briefing [[link removed]] with ABFE from 2-3pm EST on July 6th, focused on bringing attention to organizations that are engaged in combatting reproductive inequities and work to tread a collaborative pathway forward to amplify our shared call to action. Together we can win the future. Join us.
Yours with respect and gratitude,
Elizabeth
