Today has been a hard day. The Supreme Court issued a ruling that ended Roe v. Wade as we know it, and now the fight to protect choice has been handed back to individual states.

While this decision is devastating, we knew it would likely be coming – and that’s why I didn’t wait to file a lawsuit months ago and use my executive authority to ask the Michigan Supreme Court to immediately resolve whether Michigan’s Constitution protects the right to abortion.

As long as I’m your governor, I will never stop fighting like hell to defend safe, legal abortion. But my opponents have all pledged to enforce Michigan’s dangerous near-total abortion ban if elected, and that’s why we must win this tough fight.
