Last week, Governor Tim Walz signed legislation delivering a $60 million investment in mental health, including several provisions I authored.
During the pandemic, we have seen how important mental health is to the overall health of a society. Like many industries in the state going through severe workforce shortages, this bill adds a tool in the box to recruit and retain mental health professionals in the workforce. This is a huge step in the right direction in giving back to the mental health professionals who work so tirelessly, particularly in the last three years.

Good news for our Minnesota farmers! Another priority of mine was just signed into law, which will provide ongoing investments in small, beginning, and emerging farmers towards owning farmland. Many farmers we see at our local farmer's markets rent land and have no certainty about how long-term leases will be, which affects their ability to build livelihoods and continue farming for our communities. With this legislation, we will aid farmers, diversify the industry and eliminate food insecurities within our communities.
For more information regarding this vital legislation, here is an article from MinnPost.

Congratulations to all of the graduating students this Spring! Obtaining your diploma requires many hours of classroom study and a commitment on your part to accomplish this goal. You should be commended for a job well done.
As you leave high school behind and prepare to face new challenges, the skills you have acquired will become more and more important to you. I hope you will use these skills to meet these challenges and contribute to the betterment of our society.
Best wishes in your future endeavors!
