DEMOCRATIC ASSOCIATION OF DEMOCRATIC SECRETARIES OF STATE

Today is a dark day in our country. The Supreme Court has upended nearly 50 years of constitutional protection for our bodies, undermining one of our most fundamental freedoms.

As Secretary Griswold said “Stripping away Americans’ freedom to make decisions about our bodies, health, economic independence, safety, and future is an injustice and a tragedy. Pregnancy is not something that should be forced on people by the government, it’s an individual’s freedom to make that choice.”

Across the country, states have already passed bills restricting the right to choose. There are 26 states with an existing law on the books, dating back to 1931, that criminalizes abortion and makes it a felony to perform one, and has no exceptions for rape or incest.

Although we knew this was coming, I’m afraid of what will inevitably come next. These decisions are inextricably linked to every other freedom we have. The politicians who put these extreme justices on the Supreme Court and made today’s unprecedented ruling possible are behind the all-out assault on democracy and voters’ power to fight back at the ballot box. They know that our freedom to vote and our freedom to choose go hand in hand. By attacking one, they’re seeking to eliminate the other.

I wouldn’t ask if it wasn’t absolutely critical, can you please chip in to elect pro-choice state-level Democrats who will fight like hell to save abortion rights?

All of this is the result of Donald Trump being sworn into office in 2016 without winning the popular vote. But this November, the people will have the power to choose.

And in November, voters can choose Democratic Secretaries of State.

Rush anything you can right now to elect Pro-Choice Democrats who will defend the right to choose in District Of Columbia today >>

Here’s a few more ways you can fight back:
1. Join millions of Americans around the country rallying to support [[link removed]] abortion access.
2. Contribute to National Abortion Funds [[link removed]] to directly support the groups providing access in this critical moment.
3. Continue your support of pro-democracy, pro-choice state-level candidates who will fight like hell.

Together,

Thank you for your dedicated support of The Democratic Association of Secretaries of State.

We're the ONLY national organization dedicated to electing these state-level voting rights champions.

There are 27 Secretaries of State races this year. We're fighting to reelect 13 Democratic Secretaries of State, win in battleground states, and flip red seats blue. But we're relying on grassroots supporters to provide us with the resources we need to win nationwide.

Please donate anything you can today to fight back against the GOP's voter suppression agenda:
