A Win for Life

Today, the United States Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, the 1973 case that legalized abortion. This ruling will give the power back to the states to make decisions on abortion and removes the federal government's unconstitutional overreach. Roe put unelected judges in charge of the abortion policy. Abortion laws should be debated and decided by the American people, not dictated by judges.

This is a momentous day for every American who has joined the fight and stood for life. As a father of three and a grandfather of eight, I firmly believe an unborn child is a human life, fearfully and wonderfully made and worth protecting.

MAKE NO MISTAKE: This ruling will save COUNTLESS innocent lives. But House Republicans must continue to work to reject Far-Left Democrats' extreme policies that seek to allow late-term abortions and taxpayer dollars to fund these elective procedures.

Voting Against "Gun Reform" Bill

Today, I voted against the Senate gun control bill.

This is a somber day for our nation and the Second Amendment. We should be pushing commonsense legislation through Congress rather than going down a slippery slope of government control over our God-given rights. In my district, we understand that evil people do evil things. Still, you don’t restrict law-abiding citizens from protecting themselves with the weapons of their choice from evil people who do evil things. Instead, we should do everything we can to help the school districts; we can get armed professional police officers there to help protect our schools, the kids, teachers, and the staff. It does not have to be about violating the Second Amendment. It does not have to be about taking away gun rights.

I spoke on the House floor urging my colleagues my bill H.R. 7909, the School Resource Officer Compensation Act would afford our schoolchildren the benefit of trained law enforcement personnel by reducing the costs to schools and school districts for hiring retired law enforcement officers as School Resource Officers (SROs), by exempting employers from having to pay the matching social security contributions, while also shielding SROs from higher tax brackets.

Biden's "Gimmick"

President Biden is putting a band-aid on a bullet hole with his new Gas Tax Holiday! Instead of lowering gas prices with good old fashioned American Energy, he’s promising to save Americans pennies on the dollar with what even Obama called a “gimmick. President Biden and the radical Left think they can tap-dance their way out of a crisis of their own making, but Americans aren’t falling for their inane floor show.

I, for one, am insulted at the very idea. Additionally, addressing gas stations on Wednesday, Biden said, “Bring down the price you are charging at the pump… Do it now. Do it today.” Well, to that, I say this: President Biden restart the Keystone XL pipeline, restored confidence in our energy industry, lay the groundwork for abundant, independent, AMERICAN energy. Do it now. Do it today.

Justice for All Victims of Terrorism Act of 2022

Yesterday, I introduced the Justice for American Victims of Terror Act of 2022, which would transfer $3.5 billion into the United States Victims of State Sponsored Terrorism Fund to allow thousands of American victims of terror to receive compensation. In February, the Biden Administration announced that the U.S. would be seizing assets from the Da Afghanistan Bank that were sitting within U.S. financial intuitions due to the collapse of the recognized government of Afghanistan. Instead of sitting in the hands of lawyers and bureaucrats, this money should go to the fund that Congress created to help victims of terror. This bill will ensure that Congress exercises its oversight duty and that American victims are treated fairly.
