When I was 19, I had an abortion. It allowed me to live a happier, healthier life, and I was saved from the risks associated with my pregnancy. It was not an easy decision, it never is for women, but I made it with freedom and without fear of prosecution.
The shame and insults that were thrown at me for years has never been topped. Nobody wants to get an abortion. However, having that choice allows women to have full control over their bodies and live the lives they choose for themselves.
Now that the Supreme Court has overturned Roe V. Wade, our children will not have the same option.
This cannot be understated. This is one of the biggest political events of our lives. A human right that was guaranteed for 50 years is being torn away from the hands of women.
Our rights are being taken away one by one by nine unelected officials, three of which were appointed by a tyrant who lost the popular vote, and one of which was stolen from Obama.
Republicans have no idea the rage they have just unleashed. We need to ensure that they feel the consequences of their actions at the midterms. We cannot allow this to be the norm. We need to vote and defend our rights.
As someone who has had to personally make a choice on pregnancy, I know exactly what this means for me and everyone else around this country.
I believe right now we need to unify and stand up together to protect our freedoms. Whether you’re a Republican or Democrat, we have to understand that our rights are under attack and we need someone who will stand by everyone, and I’m the one to do that.
