Happy Friday!
We have been busy with votes and meetings this week! It's been an action-packed time here in Washington.
On Monday, we celebrated Juneteenth which commemorates the 157th anniversary of the last enslaved Americans being freed. I hope you all enjoyed the holiday and took time to remember its significance.
Tuesday, Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA) came by to talk with me about my vote for the PACT Act earlier this year. I serve on the Veterans Affairs Committee and it is an honor to represent these Americans who keep us all free and safe.
On Wednesday, I sent a letter to the Oversight Committee to hold a hearing about the recent attacks on pregnancy centers and religious institutions which you can read here. We must work to end these violent attacks and get to the bottom of who is behind them.
Wednesday, I also met a Lowcountry family while they were on a Capitol tour. It is always such a pleasure to meet with my constituents when they come to visit. If you are coming to DC soon, don’t forget to schedule a tour here.
Thursday morning I met with the Cannabis Freedom Alliance (CFA) on my States Reform Act. It was great to update them on the progress of this exciting legislation.
Thursday a bill I co-sponsored became law. The Federal Rotational Cyber Workforce Program Act of 2021. This will help make our national defense stronger and the federal government more secure.
Do not forget: if you need us, call us. Whether you need help with a passport, issues with receiving your tax refund or the Veterans Administration, please reach out to our office if you have any questions, concerns, or just want to be heard on any issue at any time. It’s an immense honor to serve each and every one of you.
Sincerely,
