Dear JOHN,
Shame on the U.S. Supreme Court. Shame on these extremist judges and politicians, and anyone who supported them with a vote or a financial contribution.
The decision today to overturn Roe v. Wade is a devastating setback for our country, and for the rights of women everywhere.
More than ever, we need leaders willing to stand up for equal rights and the rights of women. Because, let’s be clear, this assault on our rights will absolutely not end here.
Justice Clarence Thomas said as much in his concurring opinion overturning Roe v. Wade. Justice Thomas believes we should also overturn cases granting rights to same-sex marriage and contraception.
Yes, he actually said that.
We need leaders willing to fight the extremists forcing our country to the far-right.
We need leaders that are serious about protecting women’s rights. Serious about protecting equality. Serious about voting rights.
Leaders that are serious about this country and our collective future.
Talk is cheap. We don’t need politicians that say they believe one thing and then fund the other side.
My opponent David Trone donated to and helped elect some of the most ardent anti-abortion, anti-voting rights Republicans, including $46,941 to Texas Governor Greg Abbott and $11,000 to Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton.
Yes, Rep. David Trone has been a major financial backer of the very leaders of the movement that brought us today’s ruling.
Rep. Trone says, “I sign my checks to buy access.” Yes, he sure does. $150,000 in total to Republicans around the country.
Well, Trone’s brand of pay-to-play politics has consequences. Empowering hateful, extremist leaders to advance one's business and line one's pockets, askewing one's own supposed political ideology, is a broken politics that is plaguing our nation.
It’s a broken politics that has led us to today’s decision, and a Supreme Court that is far, far right of the rest of America. Yes, right of even most Republicans.
We can do better. We must do better. Please, support my campaign and every campaign that stands up for equal rights and believes we must go forward, not backwards.
We must fight back. And we need leaders that know what side they’re on.
Sincerely,
Ben
