A Great Victory For Life!

God Is Good!

Today is a day many of us wondered if we would ever see.  After nearly 50 years of prayers, marches, heated debates and brutal confirmation battles, the Supreme Court has finally overturned Roe v. Wade!

Congratulations to the millions of Americans who would not accept the destruction of innocent life!

Today’s decision by Justice Samuel Alito came in the case of Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, a challenge to Mississippi’s law protecting preborn babies from late-term abortions after 15 weeks of pregnancy.

The central conclusions of Justice Samuel Alito's draft opinion that was leaked to the media last month survived all the pro-abortion intimidation tactics.  Radical protesters screaming outside their homes, death threats and even assassination attempts did not frighten the pro-life justices.  God bless them!

The majority ruled that there is no “right to abortion” in the Constitution.  Writing for the majority, Justice Alito declared:

“The Constitution does not confer a right to abortion; Roe and Casey are overruled; and the authority to regulate abortion is returned to the people and their elected representatives. . .  The Constitution makes no reference to abortion, and no such right is implicitly protected by any constitutional provision. . .”

He is right!  You will not find abortion anywhere in the Constitution.  The Supreme Court invented the right to kill a preborn baby in 1973.  No Congress and no Supreme Court majority in our history from 1787 to 1972 had discovered such a right before because it isn’t there.

But the liberal justices in 1973 had an outcome they wanted to achieve and they contrived a way to make it happen.  Their logic and constitutional reasoning was terrible, and many liberal legal scholars have said so.  In fact, even Ruth Bader Ginsburg was critical of Roe v. Wade.

Today’s ruling also survived attempts by Chief Justice John Roberts to water down the final decision.  While he agreed with the majority of justices that Mississippi’s ban on late-term abortions was perfectly reasonable and constitutional, Roberts is such an institutionalist and such an incrementalist that he would have allowed the historic injustice of Roe v. Wade to survive.

Thank God Justices Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh and Amy Coney Barrett had the courage to stand firm and to do the right thing.

To be clear, today’s ruling is not the end of the abortion debate.  Far from it.  The court did not ban abortion.  The majority said that the issue of abortion is “returned to the people and their elected representatives.”

That means the issue will be decided in state legislatures and in the Congress.  And that significantly raises the stakes at every level in this year’s elections!

Please stand with CWF now as we work to elect more pro-life, America First conservatives!

A Brief Reminder

Many people may not realize it, but today almost didn’t happen.  I want to take a brief moment to remind you of how we got here.  It wasn’t easy.  In fact, Samuel Alito almost never made it to the Supreme Court.

When pro-abortion Justice Sandra Day O’Connor retired in 2005, President George W. Bush initially nominated his personal lawyer from Texas, Harriet Miers, to replace O’Connor.

But like David Souter, Miers was another “stealth candidate” with no real record.  I was absolutely convinced then, and I remain so today, that “Justice Harriet Miers” would have been unreliable at best and a disaster at worst.

I and just a handful of conservative leaders took a huge risk when we publicly opposed Miers’s nomination.  We called on President Bush to nominate a known conservative.

After weeks of bitter behind-the-scenes struggles, Miers eventually withdrew her nomination.  To the tremendous applause (and relief) of conservatives everywhere, Bush then nominated Judge Samuel Alito.

Just one example of how your support for our work all these years has made a tremendous difference!  Thank you, my friends!

Thank you, Donald Trump!

God bless Donald Trump!  Pro-life Americans owe a huge debt of gratitude to President Trump.  He did what previous Republican presidents either could not do or were not willing to do.

He promised to appoint pro-life judges and he kept that promise.  Thanks to Trump's three Supreme Court appointments, abortion on demand is no longer the law of the land!

Left-wing Lies

You're going to see and hear a lot of wailing and gnashing of teeth on the nightly news and on social media.  So, it's important to understand what today's decision means.

First, this is not an attack on democracy.  As I explained above, there is no right to abortion in the Constitution.  It's just not there.

Today’s decision corrected a terrible error made nearly 50 years ago.  The Supreme Court has been supremely wrong before.  It was wrong when it said there was a right to slavery and segregation.  And it was wrong when it said in 1973 that preborn children had no rights.

Today's decision allows for more democracy and more debate, not less, and more decision making by the American people.

The battle for the sanctity of life is far from over.  But today’s victory means that pro-life states are no longer constrained by Roe v. Wade.  Millions of babies will be saved!

Many analysts are saying, as President Biden did, that today’s decision marks the first time the court granted a right and took it away.  As I noted, that’s false.

But the talking point also highlights the lie.  There was no right to abortion in the Constitution in 1973.  Today’s court said the Roe court was wrong.

Moreover, the Supreme Court does not create rights.  That is not the job of justices, although they often act as if they have that power.  The job of the court is to protect rights that are already stated in the Constitution.

The Real Extremists

President Biden, Democrat politicians and their media allies are going all out to portray the court and pro-life conservatives as extremists.  It's important that we aggressively reject that false narrative.  They are the real extremists in the abortion debate.

Again, the Supreme Court turned the abortion issue over to the states to let the people make their own judgments.  That’s democracy.  But the left seems to have a big problem with that.

We don’t have to guess at what the left wants to do.  In his remarks this afternoon, President Biden called on Congress to pass legislation to make Roe v. Wade federal law.  House Democrats have already done that, and their bill is the most extreme pro-abortion legislation ever

Not only would it codify Roe v. Wade into federal law, it would also wipe out every pro-life state law such as bans on partial-birth abortions, parental notification laws and waiting periods.  It would also force taxpayers to subsidize abortions.

The Democrat bill does the exact opposite of what the Supreme Court did today.  The court said the people should decide.  The Democrats don’t want you to decide anything.  They’re going to force you to accept abortion on demand, and they’re going to make you pay for it!

The left wants you to wait days or weeks to exercise your Second Amendment rights, but it does not want women to think twice about killing babies.

Only 13% of Americans support abortion in the third trimester.  But the Democrats’ legislation would allow abortion through all nine months of pregnancy for any reason or no reason.

The left insists that “men” can have abortions, and their bill would make you pay for them.

They are the extremists!

Biden’s Malarkey

The White House needs to put Joe Biden back on the “No Malarkey” bus because his remarks today were full of it!

He suggested that today’s decision was a forerunner to taking away contraception, that right-wing politicians will now try to prevent women from traveling, etc.  He told people on the left that there is an effort underway by conservatives to strip them of basic rights.  (The reality is the exact opposite!)

After he said all that, Biden finally told his supporters not to engage in violence.  (Maybe he read my letter!)

But his call to reject violence rings hollow after he spent the bulk of his remarks whipping his radical followers into a frenzy, telling them that pro-life justices are trying to enslave women and take us back 150 years.  At times, Biden seemed to be inciting violence against pro-life conservatives.

Sadly, there will be more violence tonight.  Jane’s Revenge promised a “Night of Rage” after the Supreme Court issued its decision.

Every Republican member of Congress and every pro-life state legislator needs to state clearly that Joe Biden’s supporters are responsible for this violence.  Pro-life conservatives are not the ones attacking churches and centers that care for women in need!

A Call To Prayer

In stark contrast to the left’s campaign of hate and domestic terrorism, I want to urge every reader of this daily report to join me in prayer for America.  You will have an incredible opportunity to do that this coming Thursday, June 30th.

Our friends at Hamilton Flourishing are hosting a nationwide solemn assembly of prayer for America.  Click here to learn more.  If you are in the Chattanooga area you can attend in person.  But everyone can join in virtually.  Attendance is free, but you must first register online.

A Call To Action

Joe Biden did say one thing today that I do agree with.  He said the November elections matter tremendously.  He said abortion will be on the ballot.

Because of today’s Supreme Court decision, the people we elect in just a little over four months will have far more authority to decide this fundamental issue of life and death.  The pro-abortion left is going all out to elect more pro-death Democrats this November.

We must fight back!

Please stand with CWF now!  Help me elect more pro-life, America First conservatives!
