The Supreme Court has overturned Roe v. Wade .
This is a dark day in America. As of today’s decision, abortions are illegal in Kentucky. And thanks to radical, extremist GOP legislators, reproductive rights are withheld even from victims of rape and incest.
Today is a tragic day for millions of Americans. For nearly fifty years, Roe has stood as the law of the land, and has saved thousands of women’s lives. But extremist GOP lawmakers couldn’t care less about the real-life consequences of going back to those dark times.
The fight for reproductive rights in America is not over. Two-thirds of Americans support upholding Roe v. Wade . The vast majority of Americans are against this radical rollback of fundamental rights.
But if Republicans are allowed to take control of Congress, we can be sure that they will push for a nationwide abortion ban. Now that the Supreme Court has removed the guardrails, this year’s midterms have taken on even more importance.
Fighting back to protect reproductive healthcare in this country starts with electing pro-choice Democrats up and down the ballot.
I know today hasn’t been easy. My two daughters now have fewer rights than their mom and grandmothers did. So we have to fight back. We have the numbers and the will to win this battle for reproductive care. The GOP has no idea just how ready we are to fight for our fundamental rights.
Before I go, I’m asking you to chip in $15 to my campaign. Our fundamental rights are on the line. Louisville needs a proudly pro-choice representative in Washington, and we need to hold the House to keep the radical GOP from continuing to push their anti-woman agenda. Make no mistake – I’ll be ready to codify Roe and stand up for reproductive care in Congress on day one.
