This Issue: New data show the enormous dangers of Pres. Biden's border crisis

For the last 18 months, reporting on the ongoing border crisis has mostly focused on the number of apprehensions made by Border Patrol agents along the U.S.-Mexico border. But two new data points shed more light on the impact of the Biden Administration's unwillingness to enforce immigration laws at the border and in the interior.

According to recent court filings, the Department of Homeland Security admits that it has released more than 1 million illegal border crossers into the interior of the country since January of 2020 with most being released over the last 18 months.

Since Pres. Biden took office, the Border Patrol has made more than 2.8 million apprehensions along the Southern border. While many illegal border crossers have been turned away as a result of the Title 42 policy that blocks admissions into the United States because of the COVID-19 pandemic, we know that most of those who get turned away keep trying until they eventually get released into the U.S.

As a reminder, the federal government admits more than 1 million new legal immigrants every year. In other words, the Biden Administration has nearly doubled annual immigration levels through its lax enforcement policies.

50 Known Terrorists Arrested Along SW Border

In FY2022 alone, Border Patrol agents have made more than 1.4 million apprehensions of illegal border crossers. Of those, at least 50 were on the terror watch list.

That number is twice as much as the number of terror watch suspects apprehended by Border Patrol over the last 5 years combined!

The data show that individuals who wish to do harm on the United States are clearly taking advantage of the ongoing border crisis.
