John,
This morning, the Supreme Court released their ruling for Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization and stripped the people of the constitutional rights and protections that were granted under Roe v. Wade.
My heart and support goes out to all who are grieving today's news. While we knew this day would come, this decision is no less devastating.
We are in a moment of crisis, and this moment calls on each and every one of us to respond to this deeply impactful attack on our rights. If you stand with me and millions of other people all around the country in this moment, please consider making a donation to the National Network of Abortion Funds today.
This is an all hands on deck situation, John. There are now 13 trigger law states that have banned abortion, and more are soon making the decision to ban this clear right to health care. I cannot be more clear when I say that we need everyone to come together and build our collective power to support the systems that work for us — and tear down the ones that do not work.
Nearly 50 years of necessary and hard work has been swept away because Trump and his network of corrupt goons worked day and night to create an ultra-conservative majority on the Supreme Court. And what's more, we're set to see a new wave of right-wing extremist decisions like these to come — soon.
We have a lot of work to do. We need to show up for mutual aid institutions that better our communities. We need to call on the Senate to scrap the filibuster and protect our fundamental rights to healthcare, voting rights, and so much more. And we need to hold our elected, and appointed officials accountable for doing right by the American people.
The stakes have never been higher, John. I am determined to win this re-election and continue fighting for the people of NY-16 and communities like ours. For the next two months and long after, we must continue to reaffirm our commitment to fighting for our progressive values and protecting and restoring our rights.
Peace and love,
Jamaal Bowman
