While we've been anticipating this for weeks, I am devastated by this ruling.
As a direct result of wrongheaded, backwards ideology, decades of established law and precedent will be at risk of being overturned and if that happens, women across our country will pay the price, with low income women of color experiencing the most severe impact of the decision.
These bans and attacks on abortion access fall hardest on those most vulnerable -- and will set a precedent for the highest court in our country to attack the rights of already marginalized communities across the country.
No matter what, I will fight to ensure that Los Angeles is always a safe haven for reproductive freedom.
But our city may be at risk. In November, I am going up against a former Republican and self-funded billionaire who has a history of supporting anti-abortion politicians. Rick Caruso has proven his values do not align with the people of our city.
