John, when will this heartbreak stop?

Parents should not have to fear for their children’s lives when they go to school, a movie or house of worship. Guns are now the number one killer of children in America. It doesn’t have to be this way.

Long before Uvalde, the vast majority of Americans wanted Congress to pass gun reforms that could stop the senseless killing. I’m proud that House Democrats have once again passed key legislation, this time the Protecting Our Kids Act , to end this nightmare. It’s time for the Senate to finally do the same:

I’m heartened to see that a bipartisan group of senators have come to an agreement on some critical gun reform measures, including red flag laws that would keep guns out of the hands of dangerous individuals and enhanced background checks for gun buyers younger than 21. While I’d like to see much more done, this would be the most significant gun reform in decades and we have to ensure it gets across the finish line.
