The overturning of Roe V Wade is a disastrous blow to women’s equality. For years, Global Citizen has campaigned for gender equality, women and girls’ empowerment, and Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights in our pursuit of the end of extreme poverty. Ensuring that women everywhere have access to all of the healthcare they need is integral to our mission.

WHAT'S NEXT?

This decision underscores the importance of participating in our democracy by voting – in every election. Now, the decision to restrict or ban abortion will be left up to each state. If states vote in favor of this ban, a human rights issue will also become a health crisis with the potential for illegal and unsafe abortions to increase.
