See Video Metro Officers Rescue Children from Fiery Crash Dear Members, Every day LAPD officers perform acts of heroism, both small and large. A few weeks ago, Metro Division Officers Cody MacArthur and Nicolas Chacon were driving home from a 14-hour shift when they witnessed a horrific traffic accident. Watch the exclusive interview with NBC 4 by clicking the image below Seeing the vehicle engulfed in flames, off-duty officers MacArthur and Chacon called for assistance and rushed to the car. The driver of the vehicle told our officers that his wife and three young daughters were trapped inside. Officers MacArthur and Chacon immediately and selflessly pulled two children trapped in car seats from the fiery car. The mother, tragically, was unable to be rescued and died. The father appeared to be under the influence and was arrested and charged with gross vehicular manslaughter. Officers MacArthur and Chacon are examples of who police officers are, heroes willing to sacrifice their safety because it’s the right thing to do, not just because it’s their job. The LAPPL Board of Directors thanks officers MacArthur and Chacon for their heroism. Your actions show the best of LAPD.
