John,
I’m devastated and outraged by the Supreme Court’s decision to overrule Roe v. Wade. Left up to the states, women's right to reproductive care will be made almost impossible to access, illegal to receive, and illegal to provide.
Here in Ohio, Republican legislators have been waiting for this moment. They’ve had House Bill 596 drafted for a while, ready to make it a fourth degree felony for doctors to perform medication or surgical abortions. Even in cases of rape and incest.
This is repugnant and cruel, plain and simple. Under the guise of being “pro-life,” the GOP is more than ready to ostracize and marginalize half the country by taking away their rights to their healthcare.
Congress failed to pass the Women’s Health Protection Act, which would have codified a woman’s right to choose her reproductive care, and would protect healthcare professionals who provided that care.
We need new leadership, like me, in Congress who aren’t afraid of standing up to the GOP. We need loud and proud reproductive rights champions. I am ready to codify Roe v. Wade and enshrine a woman’s right to choose. Reproductive Care is healthcare and treating it any differently for political capital is egregious.
If you’re ready for leaders who will work tirelessly to protect reproductive rights, will you chip in $20 to my campaign? We can’t let our disbelief and fear detract from our goals of defeating right-wing leaders like Bob Latta, who’s voted to limit abortion access in America.
Let’s channel our anger into action. I’m prepared to do the work needed to defend reproductive rights access, and I hope you are, too.
In solidarity,
Craig Swartz
P.S. Please join me in giving to these Women Have Options Ohio who are doing the hard work of providing access to reproductive care to millions of women across the state…
