Friend,
Today is a devastating and dangerous day for religious freedom and reproductive freedom. Nearly 50 years after Roe v. Wade guaranteed abortion was a constitutional right, this new ultra-conservative majority of the U.S. Supreme Court just issued a decision in Dobbs v. Jackson that has abolished that critical right.
Religious freedom demands the right to an abortion and other reproductive health care so that people can make their own deeply personal decisions about their own bodies according to their own beliefs and principles. This Court continues to corrupt and abuse religious freedom to force all of us to live by the beliefs of far-right Christian extremists. But with your help, we will fight back!
RSVP now to join rallies across the country TONIGHT! In cities from coast to coast, AU members will be joining our partners who have organized local events to proclaim #WeWontGoBack! As we mourn together, let’s take to the streets and channel our outrage. Let’s raise our voices and declare our commitment to restore both reproductive and religious freedom. Download and print copies of our rally sign for your local march. Can’t attend or want to do more? Consider supporting your local reproductive rights and health care organizations so they can continue to provide services to all people.
Americans United has been fighting for reproductive freedom since the 1950s, because we know it’s integral to religious freedom. That’s why we are readying litigation that will bring this argument to our courts. Abortion bans undermine religious freedom by imposing one religious viewpoint on us all. AU will not let such violations go unchallenged. This groundbreaking litigation will take tremendous time and resources, so please donate now to ensure this work continues.
This Supreme Court majority has shown that it will not defend either reproductive freedom or the separation of church and state. That’s why Americans United will keep fighting—from the streets to the courts—for freedom without favor and equality without exception.
In Solidarity,
