This morning, the U.S. Supreme Court officially overturned Roe v. Wade. The American people -- particularly in red states -- now confront the reality that access to safe abortions will be as restricted as it once was over 50 years ago.
Let me be very clear: It has never been more urgent that we protect and expand our majorities so we can pass legislation like the Women’s Health Protection Act to codify Roe v. Wade into federal law.
The Court’s decision is a stark reminder that who we elect to office can have a lifetime of influence -- and for generations to come. No one election is too small, and sitting out or standing by could allow for the erosion of our constitutional rights. For our democracy to work, we must be active participants.
In 2022, voters across the 41st District will also have an opportunity to unseat a Trump-endorsed Republican in Ken Calvert -- who has been one of the strongest allies of the anti-choice movement.
